• Jan 05,  · The Proper Records 4 CD box set, The Lester Young Story contains all his best from It's cheap and sounds decent. I really like Lester Young and the Oscar Peterson Trio and Pres and Teddy, two albums he recorded for Verve in the fifties too.

• Disc two tracks # were recorded in late while # were recorded in the fall of after a JATP tour and shortly before a Lester hospitalization. Disc three is all from January after Lester had "recovered" a bit and Norman Granz took advantage. Disc 4 with Lester clearly getting weaker was recorded in summer of "57 and '/5(25).
